David Lowe made his first radio programme for the BBC in October 1981, after serving an unlikely apprenticeship as a civil servant, rock 'n' roll ~ pop 'n' soul guitarist, shop owner and disc jockey - though not necessarily in that order.

Following a six year stint with DevonAir Radio, he was lured back to the BBC in August 1990 where he joined the BBC Radio Devon team. By 1994 he'd successfully steered the "Sunday Late Show" to full regional status.

Meanwhile, in January, 1991 David was invited by the BBC regional management to produce and present a pilot series of a nostalgic musical request programme called As Time Goes By ... thirteen editions in all. Suffice it to say, ATGB lasted for very nearly 19 years without a break, finally coming to an end on January 2, 2010.

David's current weekly BBC production is "Swingers & Singers" on Sunday evenings between 8pm and 10pm. The programme is transmiited 'live' (and on-line) by nine BBC radio stations across the West & South West of the British Isles and - in common with ATGB - it very much focuses on the popular music of the mid-20th Century ... nominally 1919 to 1969. The show also includes an element of listener requests.

In addition to his broadcasting work, David Lowe is also an independent author, feature writer, columnist and photo-journalist. His debut novel "Redeeming Factor" (written under his stage and pen-name of Lewis Adler) was published as an e-book in 2011, and it is available for download to Amazon-Kindle; Kobo, iPad; Sony, Nook and all other e-readers at 77 pence (around $1 US) per copy. His other published works include short stories, articles and essays on a wide variety of subjects, such as travel, collectibles, music, the menace of bullying and matters spiritual and mystical, to name but a few.
